Founded from a Quiet Observation
Garuda Wing was established in 2017 by a small group of Bangkok-based financial professionals and educators who had spent their careers inside Thai banking and insurance institutions. What brought them together was a shared observation: the adults most in need of financial knowledge — those over forty, navigating provident funds, social security, and late-career savings — had the fewest accessible resources tailored to them.
Most financial workshops in the market were aimed at young professionals or were dense seminars more suited to accountants than to individuals managing household finances. The founders wanted to build something different — a learning environment that felt closer to a reading room than a boardroom.
The name draws on the Garuda, Thailand's national symbol — a figure associated with protection, steady flight, and endurance. These are qualities we try to bring to every interaction with our participants.
Our Mission
"To make financial knowledge accessible, non-intimidating, and genuinely useful for every adult over forty who walks through our door."
We believe that financial education works best when it respects the learner's life experience. Our participants have decades of work history, family responsibilities, and a realistic sense of time. We honour that by keeping our programmes practical, context-specific, and free from pressure.
The Educators Behind Garuda Wing
Praewa Khamchan
Praewa spent twelve years as a financial planning officer at a major Thai commercial bank before turning her focus to adult education. She leads the Foundations of Saving and Systems programmes.
Somchai Thirapong
Somchai brings experience from the insurance sector and the Social Security Office. He leads the Comprehensive Mentorship programme and advises on Thai regulatory content across all courses.
Nattaya Ritthirong
Nattaya holds a background in adult education methodology and was instrumental in structuring the chaptered, almanac-style learning format that defines our programmes. She continually reviews and refines course materials.
Our Quality Standards
Each element of our delivery is guided by a set of clear professional commitments — to accuracy, privacy, accessibility, and the integrity of our educational content.
Content Accuracy
All programme materials are reviewed annually against current Thai financial regulations, BOT guidelines, and Social Security Office updates to ensure accuracy.
Participant Privacy
Personal financial details shared during mentorship or group sessions are held strictly confidential and never disclosed to third parties without explicit consent.
Educator Neutrality
Our educators do not sell financial products, earn commissions, or hold affiliations with any bank, insurer, or broker. Education is always objective.
Accessibility
Programmes are written and delivered to be clear for learners at any educational background — free of jargon, using everyday language and visual aids throughout.
Responsive Communication
Enquiries are acknowledged within one working day. Participant questions raised between sessions receive a considered written response within 48 hours.
Continuous Improvement
Participants are invited to provide written feedback after each programme. This feedback is reviewed by all educators and used to refine future sessions.
Financial Education Grounded in Thai Reality
Garuda Wing operates at an intersection that few educational providers occupy in Thailand: the space between professional financial services and accessible adult learning. Our team draws on combined decades of experience within Thai banking, insurance, and government social welfare structures — knowledge that shapes every aspect of how we design and deliver programmes.
Adults over forty in Thailand face a financial landscape that carries particular nuance. Provident fund regulations, the Social Security Act, the Tax Revenue Code, and the rules governing inheritance and estate transfer all have implications that affect daily financial decisions. We cover these areas with the depth they deserve — connecting regulation to lived experience rather than treating them as abstract legal matters.
Our Chatuchak premises serve participants from across Bangkok, including the northern districts of Bang Khen, Lat Phrao, and Huai Khwang. We also work with participants from Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani who travel to our sessions. For mentorship participants, we can arrange sessions in accessible locations across the wider Bangkok metropolitan area.
Financial literacy at mid-life is not simply about saving more or investing differently. It involves understanding how all the parts of a financial life fit together — income, expenditure, obligations, rights, and plans. Garuda Wing's programmes are designed to build that comprehensive picture, one session at a time, with care and patience.
