Reflections from Participants
"I had been meaning to sort out my savings for a few years. The Foundations programme gave me a clear framework to actually look at where my money goes each month. The cash flow charts were simple enough that I could share them with my husband too. We are now both on the same page about what we are saving toward."
"I have been contributing to social security for over twenty years and genuinely did not understand what I was entitled to. This programme was the most practically useful thing I have done in a long time. The reference sheets alone are worth keeping. I now understand what happens to my provident fund if I change jobs."
"At fifty-three, I was in the position of having money but having no real plan for it. The mentorship gave me a structure I had been missing. My mentor was patient β she never made me feel that my questions were embarrassing. We worked through budgeting, the basics of mutual funds in Thailand, and eventually began talking about what I want to leave for my family. That part I had avoided for years."
"The group was small, which I appreciated. I was a little nervous that I would be the least knowledgeable person there, but the conversation was comfortable from the first session. The pace was right for me β I could ask questions during the session, not just at the end. I would have liked one more session, but the handouts help me carry the learning forward."
"I enrolled specifically because I wanted to understand the deposit protection limits before moving money between accounts. What I got was much more than that β a clear picture of how Thai banking works as a whole. The explanation of the DPA was accurate and detailed. I shared the handouts with my sister who had the same questions."
"I travel in from Pathum Thani, which says something about how much I valued the sessions. The tax section was particularly clarifying β I had been making incorrect assumptions about my personal income tax for years. My mentor explained it without making me feel foolish, and now I actually look forward to reviewing my tax position each year."
Participant Journeys
Retirement Without a Plan
A fifty-eight-year-old civil servant in Bangkok with twelve years remaining before retirement had no clear picture of what her combined Social Security and Government Pension Fund entitlements would look like in practice. She was also uncertain whether her savings habits were anywhere near sufficient.
Thai Financial Systems + Mentorship
She completed the Thai Financial Systems programme first, which gave her a clear understanding of what she would receive. She then enrolled in the Comprehensive Mentorship to build a savings and investment plan appropriate to her twelve-year timeline, working with a mentor who has direct experience with government pension structures.
Clarity and a Written Plan
She completed the mentorship with a written, month-by-month savings plan tailored to her income, a clear understanding of her entitlements, and β in her own words β "a sense of proportion about what is actually needed." She increased her monthly saving rate and began a low-risk mutual fund contribution through her existing bank.
Family Finances After a Career Change
A forty-four-year-old business owner in Chatuchak had recently left salaried employment and found himself uncertain about how his financial obligations had changed β particularly regarding Social Security, personal tax filing, and how to continue building savings without an employer provident fund.
Foundations of Saving + Thai Financial Systems
He began with Foundations of Saving to re-establish clarity about his new income and expenditure pattern as a business owner. He then completed the Thai Financial Systems programme to understand his new obligations and options as a self-employed person, including voluntary Social Security contributions and personal income tax basics.
Organised and Confident
He completed both programmes within a single quarter and came away with an organised approach to his business finances, a clear record of his Social Security voluntary contribution options, and a monthly savings tracker he continues to use. He has since referred two colleagues in similar situations to the programmes.
Inheritance and Estate Uncertainty
A sixty-one-year-old woman with two adult children had recently inherited assets from her parents and found herself completely unfamiliar with the Thai inheritance tax framework and how to handle the transfer of assets in a straightforward, legally sound manner.
Comprehensive Financial Literacy Mentorship
Given the specificity of her situation, she entered directly into the Comprehensive Mentorship. Her curriculum was shaped around estate-related financial literacy in Thailand β covering inheritance tax thresholds, land and building transfer considerations, and how to approach discussions with a licensed legal professional.
Prepared and Informed
She completed the mentorship with sufficient knowledge to engage meaningfully with a legal firm handling the estate. She reported that the educational preparation saved considerable time and confusion in her legal consultations. She subsequently enrolled in the Foundations of Saving programme for her younger daughter.
